Mid-Year 2010 Health and Nutrition Industry Census: Trends in Mergers & Acquisitions

There is a distinct improvement in M&A activity for the YTD 2010. This recovery is evidenced by the Census showing that the total number of M&A transactions in the first six months of 2010 is almost equal to the total for the entire year of 2009.

The outstanding categories were Organic and Functional Food & Beverage, the largest, followed by Health & Nutrition Ingredients and Branded Nutritional Supplements.

There has been substantial improvement in the equity market and with the deal activity continuing at the current pace it appears that 2010 will record the best annual M&A total in five years for the Health and Nutrition Industry.
